Aph Ko joined Movement Media in 2023. She works in communications to promote and creatively amplify movements and organizations working for social change. Aph has experience utilizing communications strategies and tools to propel advocacy efforts that center human and non-human animal rights.
In her role as Project Specialist, Aph supports public relations for Dr. Bronner’s, facilitating project administration for a variety of strategic initiatives and carrying out a range of communications duties. She ensures the smooth functioning of specific advocacy and cause-related projects, including Dr. Bronner’s mutual aid and crisis response product donation program as well international giving through facilitation of the All-One International Initiative.
In her academic career, Aph focused on mediated forms of activism and resistance, and taught courses in communication, culture, diversity, and public speaking. She served as an Associate Producer for the documentary film Always in Season, which won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Moral Urgency at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019. Aph is the founder of Black Vegans Rock and FlipIt, a project of the Better Food Foundation. Aph is the author of two books on anti-racism, popular culture, and veganism.
Aph enjoys nature walks, cooking, watching horror films, going to the beach, and hanging out with her family. Out of all the roles she has, being a mother is her favorite one.
