Kris Hermes began working with Movement Media in 2019, bringing with him seasoned skills from more than twenty years in the communications field. From changing public narratives around drug policy and HIV/AIDS to engaging in guerrilla media work with activists, Kris combines his drive for social change with a passion for strategic communications in order to advance the goals of important political movements.
As Communications Strategist, Kris works as a project manager, coordinates media outreach, conducts research, tracks media coverage, facilitates media relations, and acts as a client representative on behalf of Movement Media. Kris not only produces material well-suited for different audiences in the media market, but he also looks for opportunities to leverage the voices and information that will have the greatest impact on influencing public opinion.
When he’s not shaping media narratives, Kris enjoys being a freelance journalist and exploring the wilderness around Vancouver, BC, where he has lived with his partner since 2016. Using his skills as a writer, strategist, and published author, Kris has focused for years on providing media support for activists caught up in the legal system who are facing serious consequences as a result of their activism.
